KRISHNA VIJAY PILLAI

Hi, I'm Krishna

— a composer, producer, and singer based in the UK. I don’t like to box myself into one genre; instead, I play around with sounds and samples, chasing whatever sparks an idea and seeing where it goes.Over the years, I’ve collaborated with different artists, released independent singles, and even put out a themed EP. But deep down, my heart has always been in scoring for visuals. One day, I hope to compose for big feature films. For now, I’m honing my craft through short films, adverts, games, and the occasional jingle — always experimenting, always creating.

Here’s a collection of my work — from short film scenes, SFX and Foley design, and adverts, to campaign videos, a recent feature film scene, song covers (composed and sung by me), and some original compositions.I see each of these projects as part of my journey — exploring different styles, sharpening my skills, and expanding my range as a composer and sound designer. I’m proud of what I’ve created so far, but I’m even more excited about where my work is heading.

CORRIDOR NYC

Corridor NYC AD FINAL LOCK
Corridor NYC AD SOUND DESIGN

This is one of my latest projects — an ad for Corridor NYC, a clothing brand. They wanted a vintage-sounding track to accompany a film-style spot of three guys heading out fishing with a big red canoe. It was such a fun project because I got to lean into a Wes Anderson-esque vibe — quirky, playful, and nostalgic. I worked on both the music and sound design, layering textures that felt warm and retro while still keeping the energy fresh for the visuals. One of the challenges was balancing the track so it felt vintage without sounding dated — capturing that old-school charm but making it engaging for today’s audience. I really enjoyed experimenting with instruments, tones, and subtle details to bring that world to life.In the end, the mix of visuals and sound came together beautifully, and it’s one of those projects that reminded me why I love merging storytelling with music.

RUDHIRAM-FEATURE FILM

RUDHIRAM Feature Film

This project was for the Malayalam feature film Rudhiram, directed by Jisho Lon Antony and starring Raj B. Shetty and Aparna Balamurali. I worked as part of the music team for 4MUSICS, assisting on the background score up to the film’s interval.Since it was a collaborative effort, the final score has input from multiple people — but there are many sections where my compositions are entirely present. As an assistant, I didn’t always have the final say in what stayed or changed, but I really enjoyed the process and learned a lot from it.For now, I can only share a few scenes from the post-production stage, as the film isn’t on OTT platforms yet due to re-releases in other languages.

RED-SHORT FILM

RED Short Film

RED is a one-minute short film about a little red tractor trying to escape its barn — a metaphor for breaking out of your bubble and exploring what’s beyond it.I was responsible for the SFX, Foley, and music, which meant shaping both the emotional and playful side of the story. The brief for the score was Disney-Pixar inspired, so I went with a simple, catchy melody that reflects Red’s curious and adventurous nature. This one was a bit of a challenge — I only had a single minute to tell a whole story through music. It took me nearly six endless nights to find a melody that fit perfectly within that time frame, circling back on itself while still feeling complete. But once it clicked, it was one of the most fun and rewarding projects I’ve worked on.

PUNTO AD

RED Short Film

This project was one of my university assignments — creating music for an old Fiat Punto ad. The brief I received for the soundtrack was simple but packed with keywords: fun driving, advanced sophisticated engine technology, loaded with techno gadgetry, sporty and dynamic. To bring that to life, I experimented with beatboxing samples layered into the track, which gave it a playful, rhythmic energy while still feeling slick and futuristic. It was a fun challenge to merge that sporty, upbeat vibe with something that also hinted at sophistication and tech.Even though it was a student project, I treated it like a real brief, and it pushed me to think differently about how sound and rhythm can directly reflect a brand’s personality.

OTHER COMPOSITIONS

Here’s a link to my Google Drive folder — this is where you’ll find my original compositions and song covers. The covers are all my own versions of the originals, either performed solo or sometimes with another singer, but always fully arranged and produced by me.The original compositions are a mix of styles, each one exploring something different. I put them together here so you can get a sense of my range as a composer and how I approach music across genres.
